A revved-up water cycle points to more severe weather

The water cycle is a term for how water evaporates from the ocean, forms clouds that deliver rain to the land, and how that rain returns to the sea flowing in streams or through the ground.

And now a new study predicts that, because of global warming, the water cycle is going the get a big boost.

The overriding challenge for our generation

Global warming is going to require us all to change--if not to stop warming, then to adapt to a warmer planet.

If that's not daunting enough, we have to change to avoid a world-wide resource crunch.  I found the following short essay explaining this economic challenge.  It's by a respected researcher, Lester Brown.
